On January 1, 2020, amendments to the Labor Code of the Russian Federation and the Federal Law "On Individual (Personified) Accounting in the Compulsory Pension Insurance System" entered into force, providing for the transition to the maintenance by employers of workbooks in electronic form by providing information on labor activity to the Pension Fund of the Russian Federation employees.
EMG reminds that all employers need to notify their employees in writing by June 30, 2020:
- on changes in labor legislation related to the generation of information on labor activity in electronic form,
- on the employee’s right, by submitting a written application, to choose between continuing to keep the traditional physical workbook or providing the employee with information on labor activity (contained in electronic form).
Notifications should be handed to employees personally for signature, or (if it is not possible to do this due to objective reasons) send by registered mail with a receipt of delivery with a description of the attachment. At the same time, the employer should receive a written statement from each employee until December 31, 2020 on the choice of form of his or her workbook (in paper or electronic form).
