A Note to our readers:As this is a new section of our website, we list only the most recent accomplishments of our team. The full extent of our achievements since our incorporation in 1994 would fill a book, and we regret that we have not been keeping an active list over the years.
February 2009:
EMG's Accounting specialists succeed in overcoming the objections of the Tax Authorities regarding a client's overpayment of various taxes and secured a multi-million ruble refund. The client's charter capital was then reduced resulting in the ability to repatriate the funds to the foreign parent without subjecting them to withholding tax.
EMG became an active partner of the Leningrad Oblast Chamber of Commerce. This formalizes a relationship that has been developing over of the course of a year and adds the Oblast to the other business associations in which EMG is a current active member (American Chamber of Commerce, SPIBA, British Chamber of Commerce, etc.).
November, 2008
The St. Petersburg Tax District responsible for the oversight of foreign legal entities spontaneously contacted one of EMG's senior accounting specialists to ask her opinion on the interpretation of a matter of tax law. The issue concerned a company that was not an EMG client and our specialist's opinion was sought out not only because of her unbiased perspective, but also because of the reputation she had cultivated with the authorities as both honest and exceptionally competent in her field. We have reason to believe that our specialist's opinion on the issue was formally adopted by the authorities.
EMG's Senior Accountant Olga Denisova was named "Best Accountant of the North-West Region". The competition involved hundreds of applicant submissions and included written and oral examinations. EMG is proud to have her on our team and happy to recognize this milestone in her life.
September - October, 2008:
Following the completion of a large construction project, the coordinated efforts of our accounting, tax and legal specialist resulted in our client's receipt of a VAT refund worth 10's of millions of Euros. The funds were immediately electronically repatriated to the client's European office.
